Additional key-factors about sea freight.
How sea freights work?
If you prefer to ship your goods with sea freight, we suggest that your goods should be properly packaged and additionally palletized before being loaded into the sea containers.
Regional freight forwarder will order space on a container-ship and your goods will be delivered to the nearest sea-port for a customs export clearance, if required by established procedure of your country.
Then your goods will be loaded into the sea-containers for further transportation.
Depending on your shipment, your goods will be loaded into the single cargo full container (FCL shipment) or into the mix-container (LCL shipment).
Then your containers will be loaded onboard of the vessel and shipped to the port in the country of destination.
When your containers will arrive at the destination port, your goods again will pass through the customs formalities.
The possible customs duties and taxes will depend on your cargo HS codes and customs legislations of the country of destination.
When all customs formalities are accomplished, your goods will be released and delivered to your consignee / customer.
Normally there are two types of standard containers used for the sea freights: 20 ft and 40 ft containers, pending on the cargo volumes and special requirements.

Sea Freights Summary
Currently based on world’s statistics, over 90% of all global trade is carried by sea.
This makes sea freight the most popular cargo transportation modality.
Due to its cost-efficiency, compared to other shipping methods, sea freights are recommended to large cargoes and intercontinental shipping.
Sea freight can also be combined with other transportation methods like road transport and railways, based on the destination requirements.
